Frequently asked questions

What types of tests do you offer?

Three types of tests are available:

  • All questions are of equal difficulty
  • Questions vary in difficulty between 1 and 3
  • Questions vary in difficulty between 1 and 5

How does the scoring work?

All tests are multiple-choice with 5 answers to choose from. A correct answer carries the same number of points as its difficulty level. A wrong answer causes a deduction of 1/5 of the difficulty level. Clicking on Pass this question does not vary the score. For example, for a question of difficulty 3, giving a correct answer will increase the score by 3 points, giving a wrong answer will decrease it by 0.6 points (3/5) while clicking on "Pass this question" will not vary the score. The final score is a percentage of the maximum possible points and varies between -20% (all answers wrong) and 100% (all answers correct).

Are the tests timed?

Yes. Each test has to be completed in the time preset by the test setters, which is typically 30 minutes. The time remaining is displayed to the candidate at the bottom of the question screen. If the candidate runs out of time, the test is automatically interrupted and the remainder of the unanswered questions are deemed to have been passed (i.e. that the candidate has clicked Pass this question).

What subjects are currently covered?

All the subjects at the moment apart from the demonstration tests are IT-related.

Can you provide a test on a new subject?

Almost certainly yes if the subject can be tested using multiple choice questions. Please contact us.
